I've been in a chair since the age of 17. I'm also very independent and live alone. Still amazes me how people can still be idiots. Just because I'm in a chair doesn't mean that I have a contagious disease and I can hear and see just fine. I don't like people feeling sorry for me. All I ask is to be treated like anybody else.

Absolutely!
I have experienced all of those things myself and I face substantial workplace discrimination.

As a diabetic I understand where your coming from. People in my family thought that because of it I could not work a normal job.

There are at least two top series auto racers who have insulin-dependent diabetes. I cannot think of anything more demanding of continuous clear-minded attention and rapid reflexes than driving at 200 + mph (320 + kph) in "heavy" traffic!
