I Am In An Interracial Relationship
I'm a french speaking Canadian, and my fantastic husband is from Pakistan. In Canada, we don't really get any strange looks from people because here it's normal to see mixed-race marriages. When we were living and working in Pakistan, we didn't get any strange looks either. The only place we've had small problems was in the US!!!
We have both been very lucky...my parents and siblings like my husband a lot, and I get along very (almost extremely) well with his mother, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. I am always treated with respect and treat them likewise.
It's personal compatibility, not cultural, ethnic or racial compatibility that will make or break a relationship. We all know of married people from the same race/culture who get divorced! Personal compatibility is everything
Our lives have definetely been enriched, and I wish the best of luck to all of you who are in interracial relationships!
