I Am In Love With Two Men
I have been in love with two men for the past ten years. One, my husband, is a great guy whom I love very much. I would never want to hurt him. The other, is my best friend and my soul mate. I can talk to him about anything, we are physically and emotionally compatible.
I know it is not a great situation, but I never lied to either of them. I have always been honest about my feelings. My husband knows everything about the situation. I wish I could have married them both.
I often liken the situation to Catherine Earnshaw's conundrum in Wuthering Heights and this quote in particular always gets me.
"My love for Linton is like the foliage in the woods: time will change it, I'm well aware, as winter changes the trees. My love for Heathcliff resembles the eternal rocks beneath: a source of little visible delight, but necessary. Nelly, I am Heathcliff - he's always, always in my mind - not as a pleasure, any more than I am always a pleasure to myself - but as my own being; so, don't talk of our separation again - it is impracticable."
