I've been a member of the 135th Chemical Company since 2001. I am a Staff Sergeant and squad leader now and hope to be a platoon sergeant. I have been in the position many times now to fill in for my platoon sergeant now. All I can say is that there gets to be a ton of paperwork at that level. It's also a lot of responsibility, but it's worth it. Also, our unit has been tagged with CERFP. Which is essentially a homeland security mission aimed at reacting to a terrorist attack here in Illinois (or the surrounding 4 states). After my wife, baby and I move down to Texas (where it will be warm for a change), I plan on either becoming an officer or being a pilot. But first I need to graduate from NIU in May.
