Buddhism Challenges Me

I cinsider myself an Eclectic Wiccan primarily, but I almost formally studied Buddhism about a year ago.  I decided not to because I can't really get behind their view of Deity, but I am still very attracted to the Buddhist way of life.  I think Buddhism helps me to be a better person.  Wicca doesn't ask anything of me, or rather, doesn't ask me to be anything than I am.  Buddhism challenges me and this is my main love affair with it.  I like that the buddhist philosophy makes me think and often makes me uncomfortable because I sometimes don't live in accordance with what the Buddha taught.  I'm not the most compassionate person in the world.  I think some people are dumb and get what they deserve.  And I highly doubt I will ever be able to forgive the men that gang raped me twenty-five years ago.  They don't deserve my forgiveness.  But this isn't the Buddhist way and so it challenges me and tries to make me look at things with a new perspective.  I think this is the goal of all religions.

I agree. All religions, are there to help people, challenge them make them look at things in a new perspective and make them better. But in all religions, followers misundertand and do harm.<br />
