Maleism, Feminism Or Just Whinism?

I promise to flag this as 18+ because I'm going to be flip and vulgar....

Begin Rant...

I ******* hate the term "feminism." The concept of "equal rights" is balderdash. In my experience, women who push the feminist agenda are angry and are taking out their frustrations about their own life on the rest of the world. Also in my experience, MRA's are cut from from the same damn cloth.

Is it really that difficult to speak to one another?

Everyone seems to need a word or a catch-phrase. Everyone gets into arguments over semantics and we lose sight of the bigger picture.

If you are a woman who's rights are being trampled on, stop hanging out with douchebags that claim to be men. If you're a man who's been sissified by the world, grow a set of testicles and be a man for God's sake. The women in your life are probably just like your mother, so the sooner you come to terms with that, the better off we'll all be.

End Rant.

Ok. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

"If you are a woman who's rights are being trampled on, stop hanging out with douchebags that claim to be men."
I think the entire female gender is trampled on every day...and those who identify with it (male or female or any other sex) have their human rights violated simply by living in a world which sees no problem with their actions toward them because it is just sooooo ingrained in our minds since birth what 'female' means and the norms of EVERY society to view the 'feminine' on par with the 'complement to the masculine' or the 'inferior to the masculine'. You can say "I don't do that at all", but you'd be mistaken. You know how I can say that? Because in your next sentence you say "If you're a man who's been sissified by the world, grow a set of testicles and be a man for God's sake. " Yes, I find that offensive, not just to women...but to MEN who you assume must live up to your definition of masculinity (i.e. not "sissified" and possessing a pair of testicles). Furthermore, your statement assumes that feminism is all about women against men...that could not be farther from the truth. Men can be and are feminists, men are discriminated against for expressing 'femininity', and held to unrealistic standards of 'masculinity' (as i have pointed out), and I'd be willing to bet that there are more women the world over who perpetuate the same inequalities which feminists seek to expose and resolve than there are women who challenge the problems with the status quo or who even recognize them. Of course, I'm not 100% certain about that, because I imagine it would be extremely hard to ignore in many circumstances while it is quite easy in others where they don't HAVE to face it.

All points taken. I guess at the end of the day, we have to all admit that we're not perfect and that we are "less male" or "less female" we are simply being less human. Most of us believe that we are the most scencient beings on this planet. The fight between the sexes seems to be below us.

yes, the 'fight between the sexes' is never fought in the open, is it? or at least not when unacceptable to do so. I just wonder sometimes how an entire half of the human population came to be in the position that it is...or perhaps, how THE human population came to be in the position it is...i guess we'll never REALLY know, and perhaps it doesn't matter so long as we learn how to correct it in the future (if we do).

I agree that people argue over semantics - but getting your meaning exactly right while negotiating for more privileges is quite important

Not when the point of the argument is lost. I have seen people fighting so hard to make their point that they've failed to listen to valid points made by others.

Well to be fair sometimes neither side has a valid point!

well then I guess my idea only applies to open-minded people who aren't entrenched in their own rightness.

In which case name calling seems just as good as any way to "win" ... however it might be more entertaining to have dance -offs...

LOL

Yes to dance-offs!

*shakes ****

I'm sorry you find me to be angry. I'm sorry you feel my views are a punishment to the world.

I don't think I hang out with douchebags, female or male.

My husband is amazing and I love him with an intensity that I cannot put into words. Our relationship while not perfect is a partnership and I wouldn't want any other partner.

Call yourself what you may, but I don't believe you are the kind of feminist that I described...

Yay!

But do you still think my husband is a douchebag (wink)

I haven't met your hubby. I would presume no. lol

... then it is cake time for sure...

While I don't agree with most of what you said, I do hope your rant gave you some relief.
I do think that this whole drama really is religated to a very small section of EP.

I've talked with people in the real world that are promoting mens rights, they aren't anything like the boogers on here.

Also in real life I rarely have to defend my views or explain that I am a feminist.

There is a rarified bubble on EP where extremism starts to masquerade as normality.

Your statement about equality made me sad. I don't know why you wouldn't want the same freedom for everyone.

And for all the "isms" you hate... you don't have to like them but certainly they aren't useless just because you don't have use for them, others may find them useful.
But we really should move forward, the zombie apocalypse is comming and we need to be getting ready for that!

Didn't I join a robot zombie group recently?

I must have missed that... I've been busy digging an underground complex and practicing my headshot skills...its not going well, so far I've dug out about 10 inches for my underground shelter and I've watched two episodes of top shot, and rewatched milla as "alice"...

*giggles @ use of the word booger* (sorry. Easily amused).

Oh, this is so much fun! :D

Oh dear. D'ya need a wee hug kitten? :)

P.s Well said.

I'm not sure that many could get away with calling me "kitten"

I'm not just anyone though am I? *tries to make self appear big & important* ;D
