Okay I love Americans but I hate when they tell me "ooh dude I'm like totally Irish too because my great great great great great gandmother was irish" nooo YOU'RE AMERICAN!!! I mean my last name is French but I don't call myself French? Fair enough your hertiage is Irish, but that doesn't make you Irish...you're still American.

As an american I can honestly say that we are proud of our ancestral homelands, mine being ireland and england. I always felt close to my irish heritage and don'nt know why. Reardon is the surname that I came from and I heard through family they hail from county sligo, I would love to learn more about it. Thanks, Dara

Applebomb, what is Irishness? Does one have to be born in Ireland; can one decide to reside there and integrate? Is it a question of DNA? Does it matter?
