My Mum was adopted when she was a few weeks old, and though she's traced her birth mother, we still have no clue who her father is.  I don't really like asking, 'cause I can see how much it hurts both my Mum and my Nana, but I do know that my Grandfather is/was (I don't even know if he's still alive) Irish.

I know that accents really aren't hereditary, but sometimes, you can hear a tinge of Irish in there.  Maybe I just hear what I want to hear, because I desperately want to know where I've come from, just to know what kind of people my great grandparents were like, or to meet some second or even third cousins on that side.

I guess I just want to know my roots, even though it doesn't particularly look like I'll find out...
