I Am Learning French Since a Few Decades....

... and it's not that I want to discourage anyone from learning it, but it's a neverending quest. Damned be all those living and evolutive languages ! :)

My only consolation is that the same seems to be true with English hehehe...

Just recently I answered a similar question on Yahoo (http://preview.tinyurl.com/yr9ot7) where I was suggesting http://french.about.com (where you can find many interesting tools aimed toward English speaking students) and http://preview.tinyurl.com/2gfyyu (yahoo mailing lists used by French learners and natives, where the more suitable of them suggest that French native / English learners mutually converse and correct the English natives / French learners, a very efficient way to help and learn at the same time). These ressources are free. It's a lot of work, but it is rewarding in the end :)

Sounds good, cuz I am having trouble finding somebody to practice with! I read lemonde.fr semi-regularly though, and I can follow along...just need more active-style practice.

... and your motivation will only be increased when you read books and view films in their original texts or scripts. You might even be shocked to see how extensively the filters of translations and (mis)interpretations can distort things =XI Yep, real freedom comes from knowledge :)
