I Am Learning Russian
Since the summer of 2007, I have fallen in love with the Russian language. That year, I wanted to learn various other languages, including German and Italian, but the one I have ended up sticking with the most is Russian. And that's because it's just such a unique language. Romance languages like French, Spanish, German, etc. are nice to know, but they're kind of boring compared to Russian because they just use the same letters as in English. Russian has a very different set of letters, and the shapes of them are quite fascinating, yet at the same time, they're still as simple to write as Roman letters (and some are even about the same) - compared to Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, etc., which seem harder for a native English writer/speaker to master. Russian is a good compromise. The letters are also similar in size, so words and sentences look more neat and orderly.
Russian is also interesting to me because not as many people know it, so it's like a secret code. I can write a lot of personal things and leave them out in the open, and nobody would know what it said. Also, I like the word conjugations, as it makes the meanings of phrases more obvious.
Even though I've been studying Russian as a hobby for about four years now, I still have a lot more to learn. Many sentences I try to read in Russian confuse the heck out of me with its various particles that seem to be placed there for no good reason. Nonetheless, this will not stop me from trying to master the language.
