A personal story in the experience: I Am Learning to Play Guitar
W ow, the people who say this haven't written anything about it. Well, I'll be the first. I love talking about my guitar.
It's been about 7 months since I started learning guitar. But I'm not very good because my teacher likes to go really slow. He goes to the next thing only once I have perfected the previous thing. I have an acoustic guitar right now but I'm planning to buy an electric guitar.
Maybe you people can give me some tips. Tell me how long you have been playing and stuff like that. I really like listening to stuff about guitar and watching people play it. Also how long do you think a person should practice in a day?

Guitars Rock and Roll all night long :P

Anyhoo... I started in July with my Woods acoustic guitar. One of these days I'll get me a electric guitar, dunno which one yet. I could use some tips too or pearls of wisdom. Mostly just need to play more.

Hey those calluses on your fingertips are one of the parts of playing guitar. I've even tried methods to get them faster so that it'll be easier to play without the pain. Maybe you should try again since both your husband and your son seem to like it. It's really worth those calluses ... I promise. And hopefully one day your son has a band .. lead guitarist!!! [and mom plays for the band sometimes? :D]

i bought my very first guitar (electric) last week, and came home yesterday with my amp. always wanted to learn, so here i go. the guitar is a Behringer iaxe 393. my amp is a Line 6 Spider III 15. it may not sound like much, and it's not. but i'm on a budget and i don't need more than is required until i need to acquire more. i dabble with music composition via FLstudio, so the usb connectivity feature for the Behringer was appealing. i have friends who play guitar at various levels, so i have lots of advice coming at me from all over.

I have been playing off and on for many years, but the more I learn the more I consider myself just a beginner. I have a pretty good song repertoire of other people's songs and a couple I have written myself. Most of what I've learned I have taught myself or have learned through watching other people play. I'm interested in starting a group of beginning guitar players were willing to videotape their progress and show others what they have learned. I find I learn best by watching others go to their chord progressions. I'm going to start putting up videos of the songs that I am learning in the hope that others or more experience than I am can't help and give me suggestions.

I've been playing about 3 years. Lovin it! For the last 6 months I've been jamming once a week with about 3-4 others. A couple are very good and I am finding that I am picking stuff up much faster this way.

Hi. I am a novice and started lessons about 3 weeks ago. My equipment consists of a Cort electric guitar and little Peavey amp...sounds pretty great. How much time to practice? We're all different and it really depends on your individual situation to try and find a bit of time in and around everything else happening...Personally I try for two 2 hour sessions per week so that I feel as though I am progressing...I find you can accomplish alot more in a 2 hour session than 1 hour...also if you have to arrange times around your schedule, then try and plan for 2 hours.

If you find that the teacher is moving to slowly then speak to him/her and tell them what your feelings are...Also if you are practicing sufficiently and it shows in your play/progress then that should be sufficient proof for your teacher to pick up the tempo.
