I Am Lonely
I just remembered this poem I wrote years ago. It seems somewhat apt for this group:
I'm sad and lonely
and my eyes weigh me down
there's the flicker of fatigue
bothering my frown.
As I stare pointlessly
at the inactive blank screen
I remember things I've now lost
I remember my old dream.
There're so many ambitions I used to have
but now I lack
My outlook was once rosie
My outlook now is cack.
I wish I was a child again
see the world through romantic eyes
instead of these tired tear stained ones
that don't see much as I cry.
If the world would slow down just a little
so I could appreciate it once more
my spirit might lift a little
and pick my eyes up from the floor.
I'm sad and lonely
and my eyes weigh me down
there's the flicker of fatigue
bothering my frown.
As I stare pointlessly
at the inactive blank screen
I remember things I've now lost
I remember my old dream.
There're so many ambitions I used to have
but now I lack
My outlook was once rosie
My outlook now is cack.
I wish I was a child again
see the world through romantic eyes
instead of these tired tear stained ones
that don't see much as I cry.
If the world would slow down just a little
so I could appreciate it once more
my spirit might lift a little
and pick my eyes up from the floor.
