Anybody Out There?

I've always been quiet, up until I decided to speak. It hasn't brought me any favors, like anyone says coming out of your shell does. I'm out of my shell, I'm exposed, and I'm vulnerable. Now, having an opinion means getting the third degree. I think my so called friends and my mother liked me better when I was a mouse. I have no one to speak to without being compared to the poor souls starving in other countries. I know I'm selfish, but am I alone?

I think I know what you mean.. like they get used to you being quiet and now they think that's your place.. and don't like it when you "forget your place" and try to speak up or offer an opinion of your own. =/

That's exactly what it's like. And I'm not good at finding the balance between too much information and mute.

They'll just have to get used to it eventually. Try to be stubborn and ignore when people try to put you back into what they see as your place. :) I used to be elective mute and it's taken me a long, long time to find my voice, I'm still working on it really, and even last year had a moment like that; but gradually I think people do become used to the new vocal you. :)
