I'm a 49 year old woman who recently has been through a career change. It seems most of the people I work with are young, 20s to early 30s. It's hard to make friends in a young person's world. So, like the rolling Stones song, "I'm just waiting on a friend."

    thank you for posting Ellen. I am 49 and just going through a career change, + study, + 4 school age children, + single parenting for the last 10 years. I fluctuate between being terrified of all the changes and new pressures, and being hopeful that i can find my path in the world at this late stage. The women I work with are all mostly very nice, and many the same age, but i am not very good socially, very quiet. I dont think there is anything terribly wrong with me :-), but it does seem as if only the outgoing, socially vibrant, confident people are valued in this brave new world. Please add me if you want.
