    I can understand exactly what you mean. The critters are a big help, but still, it is really lonely, for really long periods of time... then he gets home and it is still lonely because the Navy takes so much from him in time and energy. The one thing that comforts me when things are at the worst is the idea that the pain I feel is evidence of how much I love him. I would never trade the intensity of my feelings for him, in order to have deployments be less difficult. I see other wives who don't really mind that their husband is gone... and I wonder how long after the guy gets out of the military the marriage will last.



    In my (not so humble) opinion, if being apart isn't very hard, why would you stay together? Maybe that's really cynical, but it is one of the few thoughts than helps me when I'm really down about him being gone.
