I Think We Were Destined To Be TogetherIt is a unusual story of how my husband and I got together. We met for the first time when Wal-Mart came to our town in 1993. I was hired before the store opened and helped to set it up, that was January 1993. By April 1993 the store a offically opened and I was working the Service Desk, I was 19 I was fresh out of college and had lost so much weight and was enjoying the attension I was getting from most of the guys at Wal-Mart. I had become friends with a girl V who was 10 years older than me, she was really nice and was going through a divorce and wanted to sell her car and I just happened to be looking for a car, so I took out my very first loan and bought it. Problem was that is was a standard and I didn't know how to drive it. She invited me to her house to teach me and we spent the whole day together learning to drive. We hit off good so it wasn't a surprise when she asked me to go to the mall with her the next day. We had been walking around the mall for a while when she started asking me questions like, how many boyfriends have I had and do I have one now? She asked me what I liked in a guy both physically and mentally. I answered all her questions, figuring she wanted to get to know me and since she was newly out on the dating seen and I was completely single I figured her questions were a way for her to figure out what the dating scene was like. By the way I had only dated one guy my freshmen year of hight school and it only lasted 3 months, then I dated a guy at Wal-Mart for a week, all he wanted was to sleep with me, because i was a virgin and when I wouldn't give it up he promptly dumped me.
Anyway back at work that Monday, Me at the service desk and it was time for the door greaters break. This guy comes up to take over for the door greater. He said Hi, I'm J**** I work in electronics. I said hi and went back to my work. He started asking me questions like Have I ever been to the White Mountains and what kind of things I like to do. I answered him and thought he was kind of cute. The door greater came back from her break and J went back to electronics. The next day at work V called me at the servcie desk she said I heard this guy talking and he really likes you. I asked her who, but she wouldnt tell me and she hung up. I started thinking about all the guys at Wal-Mart I'd been talking to on breaks and lunches. I couldn't think which one it could be, then 2 hours later V calls me again and said the guy that likes me will let me know soon and hung up. A littl while later J from electronics comes up to the service desk, said he needed some sort of form, so I gave it to him. Then he pulled out from behind his back a Red Rose. This is for you he said. And went back to electronics. He didn't talk to me for the rest of the day. I was so excited, I had to make the next move, so when he left work I watched him to see which car he got into. Then the next day I went and got a white carnation and a heart shaped card and wrote "Just a little note to say Hi" And I put my phone number on it. I didn't have to work that day so I stayed home and hoped that he would call. He did, and we startd talking and decided that I would met him after work that night in the parking lot and we talk and get to know each other.
During the course of out convesation that night we discovered that not only did we have 3 friends in common, but that he had actually been to my high school graduation as a guest of one of our mutual friends. He used to pick this friend up from school in the afternoon ( he had already graduated two years before from a different school) One of our other mutual friends used to talk about a guy he worked with that was planning on going to the same college in Florida as him, little did I know that J was that guy. Needless to say we hit it off. And two years later we were married. My bouquet was pink and white roses, but in the center was a red rose and a white carnation. It has been 17 years and two kids later and we are happier than ever. I often wonder if we had met while in high school if we would have gotten together. I love the fact that he has been with me for every important life event, even though he didn't know he was at my high school graduation, he was there and he was there for my college graduation, the first time I had sex, ( he has been the only one I've had sex with), and of course he was there for our wedding and birth of two children. I love that we have shared so much important stuff together. He really is my soulmate and I love him just as much today as I did when we first met.
