I Am Mexican

100% Mexican And Very Proud Of That Fact.

I'm very lucky to be able to say I'm 100% Mexican. Born here in the USA (El Paso, Texas) way back in 1957. My father is from Mexico City and my mother from Chihuahua. My parents met and married in Ciudad Juárez a border city before moving to Los Angeles, CA with me in tow. I have had a great life being Mexican and having dual citizenship has it's benefits, but being a dark skinned Mexican growing up in the USA back in the 60's and 70's was a little difficult. Thank God for my parents who taught me respect, love and forgiveness. I may not have made it if it wasn't for their example. I love this country and I love being Mexican! Some of us are just lucky.

    Did you get a chance yet to see "For Greater Glory"? It is an amazingly powerful movie, filmed in Mexico, about a period of history I knew very little about. It makes you see what living (and dying) for your faith really means. (And there's even a significant character who is a photographer...original photos and very early film--late 1920s--play a big role in the story). I have been telling all my friends to go see it. If you missed it at the theater, it will be out on dvd next month. Vive Christo Rey!

    I am so glad to have read two histories that are similar today. I am Mexican as well and Live close to Mexico City.



    I love my culture and family values and I will never trade my culture and country for anything else.
