My Moravian Heritage

Through my father and grandmother I am directly descended from the long line of Moravians coming out of Zauchtenthal, Moravia, Czechoslovakia. The Nitschmanns arrived in America with the "John Nitschmann Colony" aboard the "Irene" in 1749. Bishop David Nitschmann, my 6th Great Uncle was the first U.S. Bishop. David Nitschmann founded the city of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. By the marriage of Anna Nitschmann, I am distantly related to Nicholas Count von Zinzendorf. He was received into the Court of King August II the Strong, the King of Poland and Elector of Saxony. My ancestors were Moravian elders, churchmen and missionaries.
