I Am Morbidly Obese
I've been obese all my life. When I was in 6th grade, I weighed 120 pounds. Now I found myself at 60 years old and 293 pounds , the highest I've ever been. I'm only 5 feet 1/2 inch tall, so that makes me a real waddler. Then to top things off, last month I was diagnosed with Diabetes.
Now everyone knows that Diabetes is a real nasty disease with lots of bad diseases and conditions that it brings along with it if you don't watch your blood sugar closely. So I check my blood sugar 6 times a day (2 more times than the norm) and I strictly follow my 3 carb units per meal diet. Guess what-not only has my blood sugar come down from 360 to within much more normal range, but in 3 weeks, I have lost 16 pounds. So at least Diabetes is good for something. Now I'm down to 277 and I haven't been that low in over 25 years before my daughter was born. I never lost my pregnancy weight of 286. I'm more excited about life now even with the Diabetes.
I'm on a downward path now and will stay on it because of the Diabetes and I'll reap the side benefits of weight loss from it as long as they last and I can which, of course, I hope is a long time!
