I Am Muslim
Every women fantasizes about her wedding day, what dress she is going to wear, what kind of arrangements she wants etc.. But most importantly we have this picture of a perfect husband in our mind. A man who is loving , caring, forgiving... a 'Prince Charming' of sorts. This idea of a perfect man that we get from maybe a Disney or a Hollywood movie.
These standards that we set are often unrealistic because there is no such thing as a 'perfect man' or in case of our brothers here, a 'perfect women'. All of us have our own imperfections and thats what makes us human. In this age where divorces are a common occurring and moral standards are all time low, we as humans are very much in need of a human role model.
In Islam, a woman is part of a whole, a part that renders the other half useful. We believe that when the two halves come together, the true unity of a human being appears. When this unity does not exist, humanity does not exist.
Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) personifies the roles of a ideal father and husband. He was so kind and tolerant with his wives that they could not envisage their lives without him, nor did they want to live away from him.
Aisha (Allah's blessings be on her) would drink from a cup. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) would take this cup and search for the place where the lips of his beloved wife made contact. Upon finding the place where his wife drank from the cup, he would put his lips on the very same place so that his lips have touched the place where her lips touched. He would then drink the contents of the cup at the same time enjoying union with his spouse.
The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) would clean and help at home. He would see to his needs himself rather than demanding his wife. He would clean and see to his clothing himself.
The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) would recline in the lap of our beloved mother Aisha (Allah's blessings be on her) even in the state when she would be menstruating. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) would recite the Qur῾ān whilst reclining in his wife’s lap.
If you were to read the life and teachings of this great man (Peace Be Upon Him), you will find many more lessons to learn from the way he treated his wives and children. He truly is the mercy to all of mankind.
May ALLAH make us among the people who follow the sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
