Algonquian

I'm Algonquian. Is anyone else? What do you know about the history of the Algonquians?

My maternal grandmother was half French and Montauck. The Montauck lived in the Long Island area. Two of my best friends are mostly Mohawk. The Algonquian &amp; Iraquois were quite close, were they not? <br />
Since childhood I have been so proud of being at least partly Native American. I believe my deep spiritual roots are anchored in my NA genes.

i actually just learned i was wrong- im not algonquian- im abenaki? ill have to research them!

I don't recall that tribal name... 'Abenaki'
There were so many different tribal groups in New York state. Just about every county and lake were named after the Native Americans from up there. The Manhassettes and Montauck were sister tribes.
