Hi I saw your comment on american Nigerian and understand where you are coming from as around the world some people feel they have a right to say what they please disregarding any hurt it may cause and only feel it if it affects them.

I too am half nigerian half english and from a very well known family. I know both england and home and Nigeria is a country with a 150m + population with a diaspora that is worldwide,,I am proud to be a Nigerian, I and proud of my english heritage too but I am olso very proud of my human heritage to which we all belong.

We as a people, i mean the world are evolving altogether as brothers and sisters and if we were all to understand this we would all get on a lot better so feel no pain. I posted a verse I wrote and hope you like it take care and remember nigerians and its dispora is worldwide so you are not alone.

    GENES, PEOPLES, CULTURES, GENES

    African, European, English, Nigerian,

Mixing the cultures, mixing genetics, mixing the gene

We are all redefining who we are and where we have been.

    Mother European, father natural world,

Poor little offspring either boy or girl.

Doesn’t matter the class, either rich or poor,

parents defending cultures, forever keeping score.

But what of the children, where do they belong?

Forever confused but voice still full of song.

Is this song happy? Is this song true?

Or does it just cover what people say and do?

I don’t believe in mixed culture… don’t believe in mixed race,

Academic discussion all composed with grace.

But if I were to recompose it, if I were to respond,

Would I create a formidable bond?

A bond of the people of ordinary fare,

And give the manipulations of academics or class structure the ultimate scare.

A bonding of races and people and places

And year by year create similar feature and faces.

The unity of love, it will stop all wars

And for a lot of people it will open many doors.

Mother loved Father, Father did too,

And this is the bond that created me and you.

We were once all babies disregarding our races,

Babies created and nurtured joining all sorts of cultures and places.

So let’s come together and continue to procreate

Let people join with people and together populate

Let’s re-educate these people with these outdated views

Let them understand to include our babies and me and you

Because they say these are their values of humanity so that is what they should do

They should listen to the people and include everyone too.

You are what you believe you are. I'm not Black nor African American, I agree that Nigerians who are American citizens should be referred to as Nigerian American, That's how i refer to myself.

I understand what you are talking about peaceful. The annoying thing is that Africa is usually lumped up as a country, and not as a continent with many diverese countries. And so if you are black, you are automatically African, and apparently that should do.

@ Segelu : I think you totally went all wrong on peaceful there, you probably did not read her post properly. She , didn't sound apologetic about her 'Nigerianness' She is proud of her people and her culture, hence the post about her wanting to be callled a Nigerian-American!

im segun a nigerian lawyer.you have yourselves to blame for giving others the impression that your nationality is an issue for debate.nobody should make your being nigerian american an issue unless you give them the unwritten signals that you allow debates on your being a nigerian america.nafrican american is used for blacks who do not know exactly where they originated from in africa but whose colour anounced them to the world as being african.you know you are from nigeria and you know the villafge you come from n nigeria so legally speaking you are a nigeriian american just like obama is kenyan american.stop being apologetic about your nigerianness.raise your head high in any gathering and anounce your nigerianness.i am a proud nigerian lawyer and thats why im here with my picture.ive had cause to answer many questions on this site and i can reveal my mail box to you to show you how one more nigerian has positively impact on members of the human race facing serious issues on experience project.i am indeed a proud nigerian lawyer.be a proud nigerian, let us see your picture.
