The Search.

 • I walk along a lonely path, travel down this deserted street,
 • In the hope that a kindred soul, i chance to meet.
 • A friendly face, those loving arms, that certain smile,
 • Someone to whom i can relate and chat for just awhile.
 • That one who looks upon my heart and sees all that is good,
 • Just how it should be, the way that we all wish we could.

 • A lonely spirit, who's life has been black and cold,
 • Their stone cold exterior, hides a heart of pure gold.
 • Searching for those things in life, that matter most,
 • But being invisible to but a few, a modern day ghost.
 • Yearning, wanting, needing and bound never to feel,
 • Like a condemned criminal, refused their final meal.

 • We are all searching, looking for an impossible dream,
 • Left hollow, empty and just wanting to scream.
 • An infinite journey, a saga that will never end,
 • In search of that someone, a very special friend.
 • I walk along a lonely path, travel down this deserted street,
 • Still looking for a kindred soul, hoping for a chance to meet.

I didn't know it at the time, but I had dystymia which is a form of depression. I had been suicidal many times in my life and I have tried to kill myself at least twice. Thank God they I didn't succeed. I was able to effectively hide those attempts from my family. When I lost my mother to cancer, her death pushed me into a major depressive episode. I had to be hospitalized three times in the months after her death. She died almost two weeks after mother's day last year. We were very close and it's been difficult. But, I'm doing much better now. I'm receiving treatment and with the help of some awesome doctors, therapists, and a fantastic therapy group, I'm finally in control of my life again. I think that my mom would be proud of me for getting the help I needed all along. So in a way, her death saved my life.

You're a natural bush poet in traditional Aussie style.
That one could match up to a country style song if the rhythm were tweeked a bit.
Imagine a John Williams or a Dolly Parton singing it.
Keep writing.
To be a poet as a human male,
is a little like being a Lyre Bird.

It seems like there is so much going on with your life right now... Honestly, those words you've written fits my life too.

"To know how to choose a path with heart is to learn how to follow intuitive feeling. Logic can tell you superficially where a path might lead to, but it cannot judge whether your heart will be in it." - Jean Shinoda Bolen

1. From the replies, I would have to say that you have come across some kindred souls here, who share similar feelings. I guess the digital communications does has it's advantages.

2. I often think many of us would do much better in life if we would be guided from childhood do be more prepared for a path "from the alone to the alone". since this is the reality many come to live, and not just the "happily ever after" which is being fed again and again as an only option.
maybe this way people will learn to be more kind to their fellow man and a bit more prepared for their own path.

In any case,
Lovely poem,
thank you,
nice poem :)

Beautiful i loved it.. i understand it, i feel, i just don't know how to say it.. explain it. You explained it all for us =)

I can really appreciate where you're coming from in your poem. I also write poems or fragments occasionally and wonder about similar themes to those you express so well.

This poem is really deep.I think everyone has a part in them that feels like this.I used to write poems but lately I just can't seem to put my feelings into words anymore. So thats a great gift you have there.

Thanks for your comment. I like writing "poems", but haven't written in so long. I wondered if it made sense to anyone else and now I know.
Thanks again
