Intrinsic Worth

I have a spine disease that makes it nearly impossible to stand or walk anymore. I have to get a wheelchair. Until then I'm homebound for the first time in my life. I hate the word invalid. No one is invalid. Invalid things are things that are wrong or useless, defunct. Disabled people like myself still have a lot to offer. Some paint with their mouths, some race in wheelchair races, some work in offices, some are writers and poets and musicians. There is a long list of famous people who have succeeded in spite of mental and physical handicaps. Society wants to write us off. But we are here. We are children of God with intrinsic worth and unique p;urposes in life. We can be a blessing to others, to society.
