Generally I'm the sort of person who gives up when things get hard. I couldn't be bothered. I do it with a lot of things, and quite often I'm probably missing out on a valuable opportunity or experience. I realised this now. Now that I can feel myself falling in love with him. I was so, so close to throwing in the towel at the start of the relationship, because I thought it was going to be too hard. I take along time to trust, and some people have trouble really getting to know me because I am a somewhat secretive and mysterious person. Anyway, I ended up gritting my teeth and trying to deal with or ignore my doubts. To this day I am so happy I did that. To think how close I was to calling off something so good, just because I was too scared to risk someone getting to know me. Now I have the sweetest and most devoted boyfriend I could ever ask for. I can't even believe it.
So now there's one thing I know I'll never give up on. It's something that shouldn't be risked by stupidity. And good or bad, it's a lifelong lesson and experience. And ultimately I believe you should fight for someone you love. No throwing in the towel. No giving up when things get tough. That's a sure sign things will fall apart. I'm so glad I've learnt this.

I didn't give up on mine, she gave up on me.
