I Am Obsessed With Making Jewellery.

I first started making jewellery just over two years ago.  I had always liked jewellery but couldn't afford to buy all that I wanted.  I found websites all over the world where I could buy little packets of beads and the metal findings to put them together.  I took some into the office where I work and people were clamouring to buy them from me.  I kept looking at what other people were wearing, what was for sale at markets and on the internet to gain further inspiration. I just make the stuff  because I love it. I don't sell much at all.  Because I work full time, I don't have time to be going to markets on a regular basis. I am a bit nervous about trying to sell over the internet. And anyway a lot of the time I make stuff I absolutely love and can't bear to sell!  The problem is - I can't stop!  I must have well over 200 pairs of earrings, and dozens of necklaces. And that's just the stuff I keep for myself! There are boxes and boxes of stuff I've made to sell. Is there anyone else like me out there?

    Joan, Thank you for your comment! Glad that I am not alone in my obsession. I forgot to mention that I also carry around a little notebook to sketch ideas. It's really nice when people comment favourably on something that I have made. I love your idea of the yard sale (we call them garage sales in Australia) because I am moving house soon and need to sell some furniture and other stuff too! I'll share another of my ideas with you: I have some of those macrame plant holders that were really big in the '70's. I hang them from the curtain rod and then hang pairs of earrings all over them.     You are not alone! Even this morning I got up at 5 am because I had a certain design for a necklace in my head and could not sleep until I got started on it.

    I have only been making jewellery for a year now and it has taken over my life(in a good way). I collected beads all summer and have thousands of them now to work with. Love the big chunky necklaces and hate to part with anything I make. I do make some rings and necklaces for the gals at work though.

    I keep a small notepad in my purse in case a design idea pops into my head and I can sketch it or if I happen to see a beautiful necklace on someone I can get close enough to remember every detail. See, I am totally out of control!!!LOL.

    Have fun with your jewellery. Being creative and putting together something that gets compliments is very rewarding. Enjoy.........Joan

    PS Have a jewellery yard sale. You could do very well.
