You're a hillbilly and I'm a mountain boy. Grew up in the mountains of NE Washington following deer and bear trails, fishing, skinny dipping with all the kids and had the national forest just out of my front door. I've lived in one city or another but go back to the mountains when I can. I do enjoy animals of all kinds, the smells and taste of nature. Thanks for the memories!

The morning dew on ladies mantle, the sound of water falling on beautiful pebbles, watching the blue **** flying to and from the neast box beaks crammed with insects,

Blackbirds singing as they declare soveringty over adjacent territories.

    My garden :-))

My honest opinion is that a lack of an open mind is one of the largest problems in society. Causes conflict between parents & kids; gridlock between politicians; & even causes fools to fly planes into buildings! Their are many thoughts and opinions in the world and theirs like your's are sometimes right, sometimes wrong, but always deserve, if not our respect at least our ear to listen.

I've always said that I think I would be happier living in a shack and washing clothes in a creek than in this crazy evil world. I love that you appreciate the little things. I am terribly afraid that the younger generations are oblivious to these things.

It's the truth...they are often so disconnected from the natural world....

Reading this post reminded me of an ex colleague who has said the same thing....with four grand kids under 8 years and two big bouncy dogs I knew exactly what she meant. I love the outdoors and going for long walks, I just wish other folk appreciated it more. There is far too much put on material things nowadays for my liking!

I would like to think I am fairly openminded but like you, I don't "get" people who don't like children, animals or the simple things in life. I think it makes life richer if you can appreciate the small things rather then focusing on all the material stuff which everyone seems to live by these days.

How about acceptance of people for exactly who they are, kicking back with them to relax over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine (or whatever). And laugh. And enjoy.

Really! How dull my garden would be it I only grew peonies. They may be my favorite flower, but my garden wouldn't be interesting, or as lovely, if they were the only bloom.

Often we want to put people into our box as we see them fit into our world. But if we diversify, we can find all kinds of fun in our box of life!

yes, I am. I miss my coffee shop. There I worked all kinds of magic, creating a way for people to meet each other. It was lovely. Everyone misses it. (Too bad they didn't frequent more, or that others did not discover it, I couldn't keep it afloat!) Two people tried to take over, but didn't have the commitment or the personality. Which I think is a marvelous thought, that I made a mark on my community, and a positive one at that.

I can tell, I am not a people person but when I am in the mood for them, I love a cozy coffee shop! Our local one went under. I am not such a fan of the chain coffee shops.

the morning dew on flower petals, robins singing merrily, the scent of the Carolina shore and the waves eternally grooming the shoreline, a child's infectious laughter, a genuine smile from a friend....
