I am so happy to say that I am open minded in a way that I never understood I could be when I was younger.  I truly believe that being able to accept people as they are is an important aspect of being open minded.  I know people that claim to be open but then put across a point of view that is very closed, that is to say they believe something and are not open to any other possibility around the issue.

There are so many things that I don't understand fully in life, however - I listen and learn what I can, try my hardest not to judge and not to give in to stereotypes or prejudices.  And if I do judge or have prejudices then I look inward to explore why I feel that way instead of putting it on the person or situation.

That is how I judge my open mindednesss to be.

Very nicely written it's one of the thought paths in the 12 steps of recovery.

Definetly! I like the way you put it too...'in the realms of peace'.
