Trail of Tears

Somewhere up my lineage on my father's mother's side (perhaps her grandmother on her mother's side?) was a full-blooded Cherokee. She was found on the trail of tears after the rest of the nation had past. She was wrapped in a blanket in the arms of her dead mother. She was discovered by a couple living in Georgia at the time who decided to take her in and raise her as their own. Sadly, I know nothing else about her, and I'm pretty sure she never registered with the Cherokee nation, so I'm pretty much left out in the dust. Not as much as some, I suppose.

I am ashamed of our forefathers treatment of the Native Americans. We Americans were brainwashed to believe Abe Lincoln, George Washington and other Presidents and leaders were heros. Honest Abe my ***!

Amazing story. I wish you could know more about it. I know I would.
