Always the Most Patient

I have always been the most patient member of my family. I learned from a young age that 'good things come to those who wait'. My family has always been fairly poor, so whenever I wanted anything (no matter how small), I knew I would have to wait a long time before I would be able to have it. I have no problem with waiting for things unless I am in desperate need of it (e.g. if I am dying to go to the toilet and cannot wait any longer or I'll wet myself!). I usually retreat into my mind and daydream. I have no choice but to accept the fact I must wait, so that is exactly what I do. That is on a shorter scale. I have waited on a much longer scale though. I waited years to leave the country I was born in. I waited years to meet the man I felt I could be with for ever. I waited years to improve myself. I waited years for the right moment to bridge the gap between myself and a very important and much loved family member. I've waited many years for all the things I've wanted and right now, at this point in my life, I almost have everything I could wish for. Who says patience doesn't pay off?
