My Crazy Dream

Well, right now, I have a husband and four loves.  I'm inspired by the works of Robert Heinlein and we are hoping for some sort of line marriage arrangement down the line.

We have dreams of a commune and all sorts of happiness and good times.

I got so screwed up by Heinlein and Rimmer

Actually, the idea of poly families runs through pretty much all of Heinlein's books from Stranger In a Strange Land and forward. <br />

While Polygamy is a subset of polyamory, it is by no means the only form of polyamory. Polyamory is literally translated as "many loves," and is a desc<x>ription of the concept that "romantic love" need not be exclusive, and may actually be the natural state for the human condition, rather than monogamy.<br />

I have always been interested in the concept of a Heinlein type poly family. Snuzzlejunkie, where are you located?

Really quick: What's polyamourous? Are you one of those old type mormons that believes in polygamy? I hope not. But I think communes are cool

The concept is also in "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress"

I think you're referring to "Time Enough For Love", which had a main character who lived hundreds of years. It's been years since I read the book, but I remember that in this future society, people who wanted to get married had to sign marriage contracts for a specific number of years, say ten years. And after the ten years, you could renew or re-negotiate... or not. It also makes sense that if you're signing a contract, you could easily provide an option for outside lovers. Sounds good, doesn't it?
