Surprised And Scared

I'm 43 and have no children but found out I'm 6 weeks pregnant. I had surgery with general anesthesia, before I knew that I was pregnant, in the 1st week. I was also on the pain medication Hydrocodone for almost 3 weeks. I am worried about the effects on the developing embryo from my age, the general anesthesia and the pain medication. Anyone have similar experiences who can provide information? Thank you!

The age should be fine. My mom was about the same age, few years less. I was born around the right time, within expected size and weight. I don't know if it is related but I have bipolar, medicated, dealing quite well with it.

I doubt pregnancy is a walk in the park but you're only human and can't put unrealistic expectations on yourself. Accept that you're gonna worry sometimes. If the worry gets too much you must develop new coping methods.

Although I don't know about the medications or anaesthesia. My mom took painkillers sometimes. Although healthy lifestyle, non-smoking, hardly drinking, decent diet, plenty exercise, etc.

You could ask people that know best...
