Urban Homesteading?!?!

Would you believe that harvesting 1/10 of an acre in the middle of the suburbs could yield $25,000 a year? So if you had a full one acre yard then most of us could basically escape our cubicals and live like free human beings.

I was raised on a 40 acre parcel and my dad always maintained a two-acre garden, which fed us from one harvest to the next. He maintained his garden the typical way, though, with long single rows, commercial fertilizer, etc. Now I live in a town (damn my luck) and because of the crappy yard I have, I have two gardens, with a total space of 288 square feet of space. However, if I am careful with what I plant, and how I plant it, I can generally produce around $9,000 worth of produce from that.
