What Are the Choices?

A personal story in the experience: I Am Pro Choice
I think, and that's just me, that if a person was truly pro-choice then there would be at least 2 choices: have a baby or kill a baby.  In an ideal world, the 3rd choice would be have the baby and adopt it out.  But, as far as I can see, the choice is only one: kill the baby.  Maybe someone can explain to me how so many pro-choice people are against killing criminals that kill other people.  I find that a contradiction in logic but maybe it makes some kind of sense?  Please help me understand.  I also want to say that I respect people's right to their opinion and don't advocate that mine is more correct, just different.  My son almost wasn't born live but we were lucky it was caught in time.  Then, there are the premies that are snatched from death and thrive and in adulthood so that you wouldn't know that they were so small at birth.  Life is so miraculous we almost don't deserve it.

My husband and I was talking about this topic just the other day....And he made a real great point......Woman say that it is for their health and saftey taht they abort.....But with the tests and treatments that they have nowdays.....to carry a child is very safe......

And these people are just not wanting to fess up to the truth.....It is more that they are not willing to change their lives......Seems to me to be a very selfish act now.....

And you are right about the death penalty point......I hear that quite often......And they only sday that the man is here....and the baby is not......They are not even willing to call it a baby.....Just a lump of cells.......When it comes right down to it....Is that not what we all are.....Just a lump of cells

I agree with you but we are both, after all just stupid men who get women pregnant, not caring, feeling women who don't think about protection when they have sex.

I used protection and I got pregnant. The condom ripped. I chose to have an abortion because I was in absolutely no position to raise a child in a manner where he/she could have a life that he would deserve, and I just would not have the heart to put the baby up for adoption. Though it does happen, not all women who have abortions don't think about protection when they have sex.

Convienance......and just because you could not raise the child.....Then no one else could either.....Is that right????

I feel that a woman has her own right to choose what she wants to do. Many women breakdown when they learn they're not able to have a baby of their own, even though there are other ways of having a child (maybe not their own, but it will be their kid legally.) Women want to have their own kid, and don't want to give their own kid up. I know a lot of people don't agree with abortion and would rather the adoption path, but it's not up to them; it's up to the mother. A mother wants to raise *her* child; she doesn't want her child growing up with another mother. And if she's not ready at the time (even though it may be just convenience, because she's not financially stable to raise a child,) then I think it's her choice on whether or not to give it up for adoption or abort.

Uggh....I knew I shouldn't have posted on this story because I knew someone was going to attack me for either: a) my pro-choice stance; or b) me having an abortion.

I wouldn't place the child up for adoption because that would hurt me more than the abortion. It was my choice to do so; it was all up to me.

And really - please do not attack me for having an abortion or for me being pro-choice. I wouldn't attack people who have opposite views. It's only fair.

You're right, YeaOhYea. No one should attack anyone. I feel for you. When my exwife had a spontaneous abortion we lost a child and I'll never forget the pain of that event. I wasn't carrying the baby but it was half mine. No one seems concerned for the rights or choice of the father, only the mother. It takes two to tango.
