It is a woman's CHOICE. I believe that every woman should have the right to decide what is best for her at any particular time in her life. If she knows she can't take care of a child, feed it, clothe it, love it, be there for it, then she has the right to go to a doctor & have a safe & legal abortion if she chooses. It is her CHOICE. Now, I also believe that the father of said baby should have a say. If he is more than willing to take the responsiblity on & will put in writing (keeping it all legal) that she will not be asked to take care of baby in any way after the 9 months of carrying it. Well, that would be up to the parties involved.....
As pro-choice, I have acknowledged that my choice would be to have it. I know myself well enough to know that I couldn't have an abortion. However, as a woman who has been raped........I did CHOOSE to take the morning after pill, to be sure I wouldn't ever have to make that kind of life altering, hard decision. My heart bleeds for all the women who have to make this decision everyday for whatever reasons, & then have to put up with being yelled at as they try to go into a LEGAL DOCTORS OFFICE to have this life altering procedure done. It's funny how prolifers seem to think we find this decision so DAMN easy.......For most women, I doubt very much that it is.....

I have been raped, sort of by a boyfriend-so I guess that doesn't count (not sure) but didn't end up pregnant. If I had, I would have given the baby a great life through adoption. Who am I to make that decision? I'm not God. Sure he doesn't condone rape but he surely believes you will choose the right option. Life isn't always fair or easy, but in the end it's worth it. I'd rather have my baby (rape or not) and either love it to the best of my ability (if I were older) or give it up to a family who could (since I'm a teen right now)..than look back and wonder what could have happened..or even worse mourn over a life I could have saved. I think women who get abortions do not deserve to have children, ever. They are worse than those who murder strangers. They kill their own CHILD. Sure if it's rape it wasnt their choice, but its still 50% their's and has a great chance at life. I'm not trying to be rude. I just don't get people. |
