I Put The Fun In Funeral

My Dad told me this stupid joke years ago. He said, "Yea, tho I walk thru the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Cuz I'm the meanest son of a #&@ch in the valley." Silly, right? So then his mother passed away. Rest her soul, she was not a sweet little old lady. Not even sweet when she was younger. My dad's reminiscents of his childhood were not real pleasant. So the preacher . was reciting the eulogy for my grandmother, whom he never met, got to the part in Psalm 23 about walking thru the shadow of death, imparted in a boring monotone. I happened to glance over at my dad at that particular moment and he gave me an impish wink. That's all it took. I quickly looked away but the damage was done. At first I could hide the smirk,s but then the stickers began erupting from somewhere inside. Then the giggles. By then Dad was helping me outside, where I stayed until after the service. How embarrassing. Never will forget it.

i know its awful to giggle at this, but i can't help it ... because i can picture it so well in my head. It sounds like something ONLY i could do. x

It was so embarrassing. My friends tell me I put the fun in dysfunctional. Lol. I think people are too serious at funerals. I told hubby if he embalms me, I will come back to haunt him. I want people to have a party, remember how much fun we had,not sit there slinging snot. People who TRULY know me, know I wouldn't like a traditional funeral at all.

you have a good attitude towards it :) i like ur thinking very much x
