Something Missing

In one of my latest works, I made a roughly 4x life sized self portrait from the waist up. Over where the heart should be I drew an apple with a chunk bitten out of it. During my presentation people kept asking if the apple was supposed to represent my heart, something missing? I just shrugged and said "Yea. I mean, isn't everyone like that?" To which I was responded to with silence.

I'm always yearning for something I can't really put into words. I dunno if this is something that love can satisfy, or perhaps some other kind of fulfillment. Self actualization perhaps?

Sometimes what I want most is just something simple, like a hug or someone letting me know they appreciate me. The little things go a long way.

I think there's a chunk missing from my apple too.
Maybe from everyones', as you noted. It just takes time to realize it.

Do! Ill give you my art historian professional opinion - but I promise to be nice ;)
And hey, if you can beg, borrow or steal a camera, its actually a really good idea to have photos of your art in case of damage or selling so you still have some sort of record of your work.

Thanks Aurora. Unfortunately I don't have any of my stuff in digital copies. That'd require a digital camera that I don't have. I'll let you know if I make an online portfolio.

I appreciate you Jelle man.
Like the sound of your portrait by the way, wish I could check out your art :)
