All I Hear Is Me Me Me!

Background: I have been seeing a therapist for about 4 weeks now, To help keep me on tract with my newly sober life style.

I really like my therapist and think he is very qualified. However, I feel like I do all talking. Sometimes he will ask some questions but I feel like he hasn't given much insight to what I say. I basically talk non- stop for the full hour. When I have nothing else to say, we sit In silence. Is this normal? Should I keep going until he knows more about me? I know I need a therapist but if all of them are like this, I might as well talk oUt loud to myself once a week and save fifty bucks. Any opinions/ advice? ThankS :)

Ya my therapist drives me mad too he just sits there all thoughtful for the whole session and replies with a philosophical off topic comment/question every once in a while. I'm going to throw my handbag at him next week!

Not all of them are like this i have one right now and she won't shut up. All of them are different. You just to keep looking around until you find one that fits and works for you.

a therapists job isn't to tell you that you are heading down the right/wrong path. Most times, its a relief to talk about whatever it is rather than keep it locked away. So ultimately, he is doing the right thing. But it may help, if during 1 of your uncomfortable silences during your session, if you would ask him. He is SUPPOSED to have as much trust in you as you have in him.
