What Do I Do?

I am 13 years old, and I'm so confused. I've recently been doing some Borderline Personality Disorder tests online, all of them have said I have it, but I'm not sure if they are reliable or not. I'm not sure what's wrong with me, I have no childhood stories to tell, But then joining this site, reading all the stories about everyone else. People who were abused, abandoned, it really made me feel pathetic. I feel constantly alone, no one to talk to, no one to tell my feelings to, all the friends I have, I'm not close enough to to talk to, and the only friend I would feel comfortable talking to, has recently left me, just.. cut me out. I've been getting bullied at school lately. I haven't told any one, and I'm not planning on doing so. I keep things bottled up. What do I do?

Please talk to your school psychologist or counselor. Adolescence can be a very confusing and painful time. You seem like a very intelligent young man with many good qualities. You will go far in life. Take care of yourself!

You cannot rely on online tests to confirm whether you have BPD or not. You are quite young as well, though most psychologists believe personality disorders are formed in early childhood. Still, you should see a psychologist to evaluate you for BPD, and then get a second opinion, before you accept you have it.

I was diagnosed with BPD simply because I self-injure and I had a bad breakup by one psychiatrist, whom I later found out (from another psychiatrist) was a misogynistic jerk. I meet only one or two criteria in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual for the disorder (to be diagnosed, one needs to meet 4 of 9 criterion for a valid diagnosis).

Please seek professional help from a therapist, psychiatrist, or psychologist before jumping to conclusions based on online tests. They are very unreliable methods of diagnosing personality disorders, especially.

I hope you can find someone to talk to and get evaluated. Best of luck.
