Facebook: Land Of The Attention Starved And Home Of The Fake.....

IM SICK OF ALL THE FAKE BULLSHIT ON FACEBOOK. IS THIS WHAT OUR LIVES HAVE BECOME?? POSTING A STATUS AND "FRIENDING" PEOPLE...ALL OF THE PEOPLE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE NICE TO CONNECT WITH ARE THE ONES WHO ARE NEVER ON AND PEOPLE YOU DON"T REALLY CARE ABOUT ARE ALWAYS THERE. THAT IS WHY I HAVE TAKEN AN INDEFINITE HIATUS FROM FB SO I CAN KEEP IN PERSPECTIVE WHAT"S REALLY IMPORTANT AND WHO MY REAL LIFE FRIENDS ARE.

I've always felt uncomfortable having an account there and so I deleted my account almost two months ago. It's like reliving high-school life again on a virtual platform, complete with cliques. I did have a 100 "friends", some relatives and high-school "friends". It is a great tool to help you connect with friends and relatives you hardly see and who live far away. Now it seems you become the tool- once created, you have to feed the beast. <br />
The old FB was a wonderful thing, much simpler to use, navigate, but now becoming an annoyance. It started to get creepy for me there. Facebook keep on coming with new apps, those "like" buttons plastered all over the web, their constant changes in their priva-SEE settings. It's easy for FB to change user's privacy on a daily basis and continually force people to reselect their settings. For me, it's not about people's profile, but about FB profile about us. If I'm paid more, i'll reveal more!

I love the way you think, I actually think the same way. Where have our values go? Is this really our destiny? I hope there's still people out there who know what's important.

What is the difference in deleting and de-activating? Thanks
