An Elusive Target

Since coolness is based on indifference to image and the opinion of others, the minute you start thinking you're cool - you cease to be - by definition.  What is fun though are those rare moments when you see yourself objectively through foreign eyes and realize - however fleetingly - damn! - you really are pretty cool.

You know me too well. I like to bask. It appeals to my inherent laziness. The hotter the spotlight, the warmer my blood becomes.

El, we know you are cool, cold blooded, a gator who loves to bask in the sun light, for now it serves as the "spotlight"...no bum shaking but lots of tail thrashing to push your way into the hottest spot! Vale, lacerte!!!!

Another show with great writing and world-class cynicism.

I saw that too. Maybe L&C - Criminal Intent? I thought it was extremely funny, wicked! Really good scripting.

I maxed out my street cred and had to cut it up. Guess that's the price you pay for overextending your coolness.

Apparently, saying that someone is "cool" isn't the latest form of flattery. I was recently told by my son, "Don't worry Mom, your street cred is all good." <br />

I had no idea what he meant, but I think he was trying to tell me that I'm not a square.

YEah, I been needing a new purse and belt! ;P (holds skinning knife)

Once you go reptile you never go back.

I'm quite enjoying this thread! But if you start shaking your bum, and sing I'm Too Sexy.... I'm OUTTA HERE! ;P

Thank you, Mr. Bell, I'll take kind words where I find them today. -- I will say one thing, the day I stopped determining my value by the opinion others had of me was one of the happiest days of my life. (Plus, I do have some very nice sunglasses.)

And the iceman cometh! (Or at least his eyes are getting glassy.)

My wife rarely laughs at my jokes. I look at her with amazement and disappointment. I say, "Baby, EVERYBODY thinks I'm funny". Impassively she replies, "They don't have to live with you every day".

...or "familiarity breeds contempt." ;)

Trying this technique within one's own family rarely, if ever, works out. As the old saying goes, "No man is a hero to his valet".
