" My Fellow Americans "

May I make this statement for the benefit of debate . As an outsider ( A proud Scot.... and living in Scotland) and a frequent visitor to the USA . The office of president of the USA is not a job, not a vocation , not even a duty, but simply a privilege ...... A position for all Americans to aspire to . And the man from Texas realised that dream . Was he the best qualified to lead that nation ? With the wisdom of hindsight maybe not ....... But then again that's not a pre requisite for the job........ The man from Texas sat in the office and gave it his best shot , and he made his decisions as an American ...... Some of the problems he had to contend with during his tenure were repeats from history ..... and previous presidents may have handled them better maybe ...... But I believe as an outsider looking in not many previous had the burden of all of them in the same period . So yes rather than decry a fellow American for trying ...... lets tip our hat for a man just a man from Texas who gave it his best .

Are you SERIOUS??

You know Geode its very easy for people to decry him after his tenure , but after all he is just a man .....
Thank you M2009 ....

insightful...

You've got a valid point there, S. I've said many times that I STRONGLY ob<x>jected to W's politics...but would like to know the man. He did do what he thought best, as I hope we all would do when faced with an impossible situation.

Yes, hindsight proved that choice to be a poor one... but he did the best he could, and that is really all we can ask from any human.

Those were nice words Salar... I'm sure every president tries to do what's best...
Bpth parties blams the other for the state of the nation... no one will ever agree ... this won't ever change...
I like our current president now because of the fact that he's younger, maybe the US needs some fresh new ideas :-)

Chairman, no he didn't do a great job. But I think you are thinking without looking. The economic problems can be traced back to things clinton did. Everybody blames bush. Also the war could not of been declared unless he had the ok from con and sen.I guess I need to remind you that a president can't do anything unless the congress and the senate lets them. Maybe he could of done a better job. I am sure you don't know this. Gas was at 4.00 a gallon. Within two weeks of Bush opening up offshore drilling the price fell over 20 cent a gallon. Our nation was within hours of being no more along with our finacial Groups. He/they stopped that. And again it could be traced back to clinton. You and most people talk without looking into things.

Chairman ......... He was a man just a man ...and no to atain such high office is not job.

Gave it his best to do WHAT?
The office IS a job, to serve the people, and the world. For the sake of the future, and for the sake of peace.
What good did bush do?
None.
