I wish I don't understand you but I really do. I am on he opposite side of the spectrum though, like in the movie 'Unbreakable' you were the one easily broken while I am Bruce Willis' character. I have always been careful about not hurting in relationships, opportunities and life experiences. I end up being hollow. I have no experience of my own to speak of I just refer to my friends experiences and stories of people around me. Pain is one of the strongest experience one can feel it may take long to go away but it changes you for the better. It makes you grow as a person in different levels. Whatever made you feel this way won't last that long if you just move forward. What you were a few years back is not what you are now this is something you'd probably charge to experience.

A wise man said "You will regret things you didn't do more than the things you did" so it's great that you can still be whole after feeling broken. :)

Funny you mention Phoenix....when I fled my toxic situation, I called it going Phoenix...for exactly that reason. So I totally agree!
