I Am Socially Awkward

I Don't Understand Conversation.

Socially awkward is one way to put it, another way would be to say that I am just plain terrible at socializing.  I don't understand conversation at all.  One moment I might monopolize a conversation, and the next moment I may not even respond to a question that is directed at me.  I might be able to offer a downright scientific answer to a casual question about the weather, but ask me if I am hungry and I'll probably reply that I am not sure.

Conversation may come naturally to some people, but to me it's one of the most challenging aspects of life.  I don't always reply to my messages because I become confused and stressed about what I am supposed to say next.  I don't mean to ignore anyone, but I guess I do sometimes by an accident.

    same is happing to me. All my frnd left cauz they dont enjoy talking to me they consider me boring

    i'm the same way. i just despise talking about stupid **** like celebrities or tv shows. i don't like dumbing myself down, so often i just sit there not saying anything looking awkward.

    i now how you feel. i cant just sit in a group of people and talk about everyday BS. i get bored, anxious, restless. even when there are people over my house, after a little while i end up in m yroom playing video games or watching something alone. i dont care about celbrity gossip or whats going on in the world. and why do people always mention the weather. its weather, theres nothing we can do about it. it is what it is. i find i cant relate to most people because of this. its like i am expected to be able to talk about certain things because im a guy too. the only time i can really participate in the conversation is if its something nerdy, like movies or video games. or something interesting like time travel or something crazy like that. everyday BS just does not hold my interest in conversation.

    Oh man finally somebody like me... I feel the same way too. Every conversation I've been in is very much awkward. Whether it be Friends or family. When it comes to strangers I get pissed off when somebody I don't know talks to me. I haven't seen anybody about this. So I don't know what to do about this.. Do you think I have an illness or something?

    Oneandonly12, I do not know what the 'Proffesionals would call this but I would preferr to call this 'socially selective' I understand Your difficulty in answering 'mundane/frivilous' questions,and ease in answering the more sapient ones. Perhaps it would help if You found some one who could communicate about subjects that You are familier with. Please if You can stay away from those ones who would belittle, or bully You for being You

    i read a story of Donna Williams, she is with autism too, she used to communicate by having people write their question so she could response better after she gave it a thought..
