Identify More With the Spanish

My father was from Madrid.  My mother from the UK.  I was born in the UK, raised in the US, but I don't really identify myself as being from either place.  The Brits call me Yank and visa versa.  That is until I moved to Ibiza for one summer.  I am Spanish.  I have never felt like I belonged somewhere like I did when I was in Spain.  Once the housing market recovers, I am selling up and moving to Spain for good.  It's the only place where I am at peace.  My British skin that burns here in Southern California can stay all day in the Spanish sun and do nothing but tan.  What is THAT?  Surely the sun isn't different there?  Maybe its the diet?  I don't know, but I know I look Spanish and when I walk into a shop in Spain they immediately speak Spanish to me, they don't think I'm a tourist.  I just feel like I belong.

Yayyyyy! Viva EspaƱa! It feels lovely to belong! Glad you were able to find that!

You shared a really nice story about your time in Spain. It's good to know that you had a positive experience while there.
