Thou Shall Murder, Rape, Commit Adultery, Steal, Covet Your Neighbour´s Wife And Anything That Belongs To Your Neighbour. It´s OK. The Bible tells me so.

I found this gem in the Bible that I want to share with you.

It is a lovely, endearing story.  It ´s very inspiring.   It sounds like the kind of  tale us parents should read to our kids  before they fall asleep. Plus,  it also teaches our children how to behave as God´s Chosen Crowd, and best of all, how to break half of the Commandments in just one sweep and still have God´s own seal of approval.  All in all, a real winner  !!

Here it goes :
Once upon a time ........ "The LORD spake unto Moses, saying:
Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites.Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe
And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.
And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.
and they killed every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, they kept alive for themselves

So Sweet , don´t cha think?

I must confess, though,  that at the beginning I  believed those were the words and orders of a barbaric, racist, mysoginist and deadly Dictator, because that´s how they all behave, but I was wrong, for in reality that was God himself talking and the long series of crimes that ensued were strongly recommended and lovingly committed  in His name, so  it ´s all Cool  .

So, after reading this charming tale of brotherly love,  Aren´t you glad most moral and social values are still based on Religion ?

I am.
No wonder this is and has been such a peaceful Earth

Although a man has not studied a single system of philosophy, although he does not believe in any God, and never has believed, although he has not prayed even once in his whole life, if the simple power of good actions has brought him to that state where he is ready to give up his life and all else for others, he has arrived at the same point to which the religious man will come through his prayers and the philosopher through his knowledge; and so you may find that the philosopher, the worker, and the devotee, all meet at one point, that one point being self-abnegation. However much their systems of philosophy and religion may differ, all mankind stand in reverence and awe before the man who is ready to sacrifice himself for others. Here, it is not at all any question of creed, or doctrine — even men who are very much opposed to all religious ideas, when they see one of these acts of complete self-sacrifice, feel that they must revere it. Have you not seen even a most bigoted Christian, when he reads Edwin Arnold's Light of Asia, stand in reverence of Buddha, who Preached no God, preached nothing but self-sacrifice? The only thing is that the bigot does not know that his own end and aim in life is exactly the same as that of those from whom he differs. The worshipper, by keeping constantly before him the idea of God and a surrounding of good, comes to the same point at last and says, "Thy will be done," and keeps nothing to himself. That is self-abnegation. The philosopher, with his knowledge, sees that the seeming self is a delusion and easily gives it up. It is self-abnegation. So Karma, Bhakti, and Jnana all meet here; and this is what was meant by all the great preachers of ancient times, when they taught that God is not the world. There is one thing which is the world and another which is God; and this distinction is very true. What they mean by world is selfishness. Unselfishness is God. One may live on a throne, in a golden palace, and be perfectly unselfish; and then he is in God. Another may live in a hut and wear rags, and have nothing in the world; yet, if he is selfish, he is intensely merged in the world.

Jealousy itself is EVIL!

was that not the old testament I believe that christians follow the new testament not the old laws but I am not so sure I believe in all that fire and damnation or a just God what is just about knowing you put lilttle children on this earth just to suffer

I see your point, but don't get too cocky. Remember the whole bible -I call it 'that book'- idea was created to soothe scared human being's fears. The idea of it not being the end of the line when you die helped people come to terms with it. Now, society has woken up and realized practically none of that book's ideas are at all rational and were most likely made up by some dude back in 300 AD (notice this is after he was supposed to be born). Some atheists are really aggressive and Christians really peaceful, it just depends wholly on the person.

Don't stop shine your light! We will change the world!

THe Demiurge created this material existence and all the unconsistencies within it!
