The Parable Of Good Or Bad

This is a story I rather enjoy about the concepts of "good" and "bad" in the events of our lives, a lesson to teach you that things are neutral in nature and only personal opinion makes them good or bad.

Enjoy :)

One day there was a farmer who was tending to his farm. He was caring for his horse when it suddenly hopped the fence and ran away. The farmer's neighbor saw this and rushed up to console him. "I'm sorry your horse ran away. What bad luck." the neighbor said, to which the farmer simply replied, "What's good or bad, I cannot say."

The next morning, as the farmer was tending to his farm, his horse came back with a huge group of wild horses! The neighbor had witnessed this and rushed over to congratulate the farmer. "Your horse came back and with more horses! What good luck!" he said, to which the farmer replied, "What's good or bad, I cannot say."

The next morning, the farmer's son was out training the new horses when one suddenly bucked him off and broke his leg. The farmer's neighbor witnessed this and rushed over to console him. "How terrible your son broke his leg!" he said, to which the farmer replied again, "What's good or bad, I cannot say."

The next morning, the farmer's country had gone to war and soliders where going door to door, rounding up young able bodied men. When they came to the farmer's house for his son, they noticed his leg was broken and he could not fight so they moved on. The farmer's neighbor saw this and rushed over to congratulate him. "It seems that your son will not have to fight and die in this war, how fortunate!" he said, to which the farmer replied, "What's good or bad, I cannot say."

So I hope you understand the message and can use it in your life. Each event in your life may seem good or bad at first but may result either way. There truly is no good or bad, but thinking makes it so. So the next time you break your leg or win the lottery, remember this story and simply live your life with love and happiness :D
