Submissive Pride

“There is a difference,” laughed Hassan, “between the pride of a free woman and the pride of the slave girl. The pride of a free woman is the pride of a woman who feels herself to be the equal of a man. The pride of the slave girl is the pride of the girl who knows that no other woman is the equal of herself. - Tribesmen of Gor, e-book edition, page 573.

I grew up in a post feminist world, a time far removed from the "submissive 50's housewife" such as Harriet Nelson or Donna Reed or even June Cleaver.  I grew up in a time of burn your bra, put slacks/trousers on, and fight with men for equality or has it been superiority???

I find no need to compete with men, nor am I so insecure that I feel I have to be a man, in order to have or feel any value in this world.

I love and embrace my curves, the fullness of my lips, the hips in my slips, the rock in my walk!! Like Marilyn Monroe once said "I am very much a woman and I enjoy it!"

Granted there are women far more beautiful than I shall aspire, and women with more lyrical voices than I shall speak, but no one can ever be me.  No one has my combination of qualities and flaws.  No one has my desires, dreams, vices, and virtues.

I know that there are women who, when they enter a room the entire room stops, and drinks them in...these women light up the room and possess it, and all who are within it.  I may not be that woman, but I am a woman who lives in shadows, in dark places, only to be noticed by those who wish to see someone different.  The room may gather at the lighted skirts of the woman who dominates it, but there are those who can look deeper, and see women like me in corners.

I have never been able to master dominance but have seemingly always been in the submissive role...even before I delved into my own inner dark corners.  The woman who may have been overlooked, neglected, forgotten has waited.

My eyes have held mysteries and a light of their own that brought the man for me, to me.  He has seen what others have overlooked, and He has the prize that so many others are now seeing, and wanting as their own.
