Citalopram

i just got my first prescription, and just took my first dos. ive never been on antidepressants, but im really curious about why other people are on DIFFERENT antidepressants. what makes each one different? i hope mine works.... i feel like its not going to, but i cant really judge upon it until ive been on it long enough to give it a chance. i never wanted this, never wanted to be vulnerable on antidepressants, but it got so bad that i ended up feeling it was my only chance to be happy. i hope it works, but i dont know if i want to be on it for the rest of my life, i mean, DO people stay on this? or do they eventually stop? are they able to stay on it if they wish to? if they work, i can see myself never wanting to go back, if they work, i wont want to live without them. sound bad huh? i have tried for so long without medical help and it only led me to self destruction.

I was on Citalopram a while ago. It did not suit me. I had no bad effects from it, I felt no better.
I started on 10mg per day, which was increased to 20mg. Eventually I was switched to Duloxitine which had an initial positive effect. this wore off and the dosage has been gradually increased. I'm currently on 90mg and waiting to see if that works.
It's trial and error, Citalopram might or might not work for you. Just stick it out. It takes about four weeks to build up in your system. You might see results then, though it could be longer.

Just try not to go off of them cold turkey cuz that's the real kicker....!

It depends on your condition and also on the doctor you are taking into account. Doctors are really different from one another. Take care
I started on Celexa a couple weeks ago. It works as a mood stablelizer. It makes my moods ever/normal. The first two weeks on it I was more emotional than normal, but after that I evened out and was feeling great. They have changed my life for the better. I don't feel bad about taking them at all, not considering how much they help. I would gladly take them for the rest of my life in order to continue feeling this way. There is no shame in taking antidepresants and other meds.
