I Hate Needles

When I was 10 years old, I was in a car accident. My father ran a 4 way stop sign because he didn't see it. There was a tree that had grown over the stopsign blocking it from view. We were on our way to a family reunion and I had my brother sitting in my lap. This was back before the seatbelt laws came into place. He was about a year old. My father ran the stopsign and so did another car. I could see it out of the side mirror coming toward me. I don't remember much of what happened except I knew the car was going to hit us. I shielded my brother with my body and all of the shattered glass and chrome came raining down on top of me. My other brother was in the seat beside me and it was on his side that we were hit. The impact knocked him down in the seat so there was no obstruction to stop the flying glass that came my way. I don't remember getting out of the car but I remember sitting on the side of the curb waiting for the ambulance to come and I was covered in blood. The next thing I knew I was at the hospital standing in a hospital gown screaming until I got really dizzy. I didn't remember being dizzy until just now. Wow that is strange. Anyway the next thing I remember is my grandfather picking us up at the hospital and I was in the back of his camper truck. My whole head was bandaged and I had on different clothes. My right hand was bandaged as well. I could not eat or drink anything because it hurt so badly. That night I was in pain and I had nightmares for weeks after. I was scared to go anywhere near that car, which happened to be parked in our driveway. It was still driveable but it was pretty banged up. Windows were taped up with plastic. It was a blue cougar. One of the older ones. My dad forced me to get back in that car just to prove to me that it wouldn't hurt me. I begged and cried for him to not make me get back in that car but he forced me in it anyway. After that I wasn't as scared of it anymore and the nightmares went away. I ended up with 32 stitches down the right side of my head, face and neck. Also in the top of my right hand and finger. I think this is why I am terrified of needles.

I wrote this story because I have a doctor's appointment today and I know they will want to do bloodwork which means that I am going to get stuck and I am nervous about it. They normally have to hold my arm down because I jump and tense up.

Well you guys have a great day.

WOW, depending on what kind of shot it is depends on my reaction to it. I absolutely refused to have an epidural when I was pregnant. I would literally have to be forced to willingly submit to any kind of procedure involving a long needle.

Hey you use what you can!! LOL until you get caught that is.

It helped that they are extra nice because I work there and I am the one they call when their computer goes on the fritz.

I went and it is over now! I did good. It wasn't that bad, although I was even more nervous than normal because there was a kid in there screaming his head off in the room right next to me.

Ok!!
